The Venerable Ajahn Sumedho is a seminal figure in the transmission of Buddha’s teachings to the West, has served as a monastic since 1967, and was the abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery in the UK from its founding in 1984 until his retirement in 2010. Having trained in the Thai Forest Tradition under the Venerable Ajahn Chah, Ajahn Sumedho has come to be considered his most influential Western disciple.

Sumedho was visiting the Washington, DC region for the first time.
